Schmid raises 2026 order outlook to more than 150 million euros
Key Facts
Schmid Group raised its 2026 order intake outlook to more than 150 million euros, according to a business update published on October 21. The group had previously expected orders of between 125 and 150 million euros, according to Investing's coverage of its second-quarter update. The company attributed the increase to strong third-quarter orders and an equipment deal in Malaysia announced alongside the update. Quarterly orders totaled 67.8 million euros, compared with 30.7 million euros in the second quarter, more than double the previous period's level. The new outlook covers orders for the current year, while the group left its adjusted profit margin forecast unchanged.
Preliminary third-quarter revenue, meanwhile, totaled 24.0 million euros, according to the company's statement published via GlobeNewswire. Revenue was below the second-quarter level of 27.7 million euros, according to Investing's coverage of the previous update. For the first nine months of the year, total order intake reached 111.7 million euros, according to the group's latest operating update. Revenue for the same period totaled 70.0 million euros, with third-quarter results included in the cumulative figures. Order figures exclude services and spare parts, according to Investing's coverage of the second-quarter business update.
The Malaysia agreement covers an equipment order worth more than 25 million euros that Schmid secured from a key customer and longstanding technology partner. The company said in a separate statement that the equipment would support an expansion of high-density interconnect board manufacturing capacity in Malaysia. The expansion aims to meet requirements for greater interconnect density, improved manufacturing precision and consistent production quality, according to the deal announcement. Sales Director Roland Rettenmaier said the agreement reflected "the strength of our longstanding technology partnership" with the customer. The group included more than 7 million euros of the agreement's value in third-quarter orders, with the remainder to be booked in the fourth quarter.
Schmid's order backlog rose to 96.8 million euros at the end of September, according to figures in the company's update. The backlog stood at 54.8 million euros at the end of June, before third-quarter orders and the Malaysian equipment deal were booked. In its first-half results preceding the update, the group reported revenue of 46.0 million euros, according to Investing's coverage of those results. The company compared that figure with revenue of 16.9 million euros in the corresponding period of 2025. Schmid described the financial figures in its latest business update as preliminary and unaudited, including quarterly and year-to-date revenue.
Schmid reaffirmed its forecast for an adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization margin of between 6 and 9% in 2026. The group had lowered that forecast when it announced first-half results in August, according to Investing's coverage of the results presentation. Before the reduction, it had targeted a margin above 12%, which was replaced by the range maintained in the latest update. On operating liquidity, the group recorded net cash outflows from operating activities of 29.3 million euros in the first half. In its results statement for that period filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company had reaffirmed its expectation for annual revenue of more than 100 million euros.
In the market, Investing reported that Schmid shares rose 12.5% in premarket trading on October 21, the day the business update was announced. The early move coincided with the increase in the order outlook and the announcement of the equipment deal supporting manufacturing expansion in Malaysia. The schedule announced with the first-half results set a target of mid-January 2027 for the next operating update. That disclosure will cover the fourth quarter of 2026, according to the schedule in the company's statement filed with the U.S. regulator. The group also set April 30, 2027, or earlier as the publication date for its annual report for fiscal 2026.
