West Pharmaceutical Services announced on 19 October 2026 that its board had approved a fourth-quarter cash dividend of $0.26 per common share, according to a company statement. It said the new dividend represents an 18% increase from the dividend approved for the previous quarter, extending its record of annual increases in shareholder payouts. The third-quarter dividend for 2026 was $0.22 a share, the comparison cited by the company when announcing the board's decision. West described the move in its statement as its "thirty-fourth consecutive annual increase" in dividends. The decision follows the company's announcement of growth in second-quarter sales and adjusted earnings and an increase in its full-year earnings-per-share guidance range.

According to its second-quarter 2026 earnings statement, West's sales totaled $872.3 million, up 13.8% from the same period a year earlier. Organic sales growth for the quarter was 12.7%, alongside the overall growth rate reported in the company's results. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose to $2.37, an increase of 28.8% year on year. Adjusted earnings per share thus grew faster than sales over the same period, according to the figures West reported. In its July earnings release, the company raised its 2026 adjusted diluted earnings-per-share guidance to a range of $8.85 to $9.05.

On cash generation in the second quarter, West said it generated $213.9 million in cash flow from operating activities during the period. In the same statement, it reported capital expenditure of $85.9 million as part of its presentation of cash movements related to operations and capital investment. After deducting that expenditure from operating cash flow, the company reported free cash flow of $128.0 million for the second quarter of 2026. Operating cash flow therefore remained above capital expenditure during the quarter, leaving a positive cash balance after that spending, according to the company's results. These figures cover cash activity in the period that ended before the board approved the new fourth-quarter dividend.

West provides solutions and services for injectable drugs, including the safe and effective containment and delivery of medicines, according to the company's description of its business. Its operations include high-value components, whose performance management discussed among the growth drivers in its second-quarter results. Management said "continued strong demand in biologics" was among the factors supporting growth in the components business during the period. This business connects the company to the biologics sector through components used to contain and deliver medicines, within its field of injectable drugs. For the full year, West generated net sales of $3.07 billion in fiscal 2025, according to the company's statement on the timing of its next earnings release.

During 2026, the company saw changes in the manufacturing rights for one of its systems and in its executive leadership, according to separate statements issued by West. It announced the completion of the sale and transfer of manufacturing and supply rights for its 3.5 ml "SmartDose" on-body drug delivery system. The transaction included facilities associated with the system and closed as scheduled on 1 July 2026, according to the statement announcing completion of the sale and transfer of rights. In a subsequent management change, the board appointed Michel Lagarde as president and chief executive officer, as well as a member of the board. His appointment took effect on 31 August 2026, placing the fourth-quarter dividend announcement after he assumed his duties at the company.

The next milestone is the release of third-quarter 2026 results, which West has scheduled for 29 October 2026. The company said in its earnings-date announcement that the release would come before the market opens, following the board's decision on the fourth-quarter cash dividend. The dividend will be payable to shareholders of record on 11 November 2026, under the terms set out in the dividend statement. That date determines the shareholder register covered by the decision, while the cash payment is scheduled for later in the same month. The dividend is due to be paid on 18 November 2026, according to the schedule announced by the board.
