SharpLink Allocates $200 Million to Ether Staking Through Lido in Treasury Strategy

Key Facts
Lido announced on August 13, 2026, that SharpLink had allocated $200 million of its Ether treasury to staking through the protocol as part of its use of digital assets in yield-generating strategies. Lido said in its announcement that SharpLink "is allocating $200 million of its Ether treasury to staking through the Lido protocol." In its August review, Lido said the amount had been committed but had not yet been staked at that time. SharpLink's total holdings stood at about 886,881 Ether on June 30, 2026, according to the company's earnings statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Holdings then rose to 888,938 Ether on August 3, 2026, before the Lido allocation announcement, according to the same statement.
The Lido allocation followed a collaboration to deploy SharpLink's assets on the Linea network, announced on October 28, 2025, involving ether.fi and EigenCloud. The Linea strategy combines base staking yield on the Ethereum network with restaking rewards tied to securing EigenCloud's actively validated services, according to Linea's announcement. The strategy also includes direct incentives from partners Linea and ether.fi, alongside staking and restaking rewards. SharpLink disclosed in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it had restaked $206.0 million in assets on Linea as of March 31, 2026. Those assets were held in the form of ether.fi's liquid restaking token, according to the disclosure, which specified the position's value and date.
The deployment on Linea uses ether.fi's liquid restaking token, according to Anchorage Digital's statement on SharpLink's treasury arrangements. Anchorage Digital Bank holds custody of the underlying assets used in the strategy, according to the statement, which placed custody within the arrangements for executing the deployment. SharpLink explained in its quarterly report that accrued staking rewards increase the conversion rate of the ether.fi token into Ether over time. The company receives no new or additional tokens as those rewards accrue, with their accumulation reflected in the conversion rate, according to the report. Protocol incentives, meanwhile, are calculated using month-end total value locked metrics and are subject to contractual caps, according to the company's SEC disclosure.
The company's financial results reflect the contribution of staking and Ether yield strategies to revenue, according to its earnings presentation published by Investing.com, citing GuruFocus. Total revenue reached $11.5 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with $0.7 million in the same quarter of 2025, driven by those activities. In another use of its staked treasury, Galaxy and SharpLink announced the launch of an on-chain yield fund with capital commitments of $125 million. The fund's commitments include $100 million backed by SharpLink's staked Ether treasury, according to Galaxy's launch statement. Galaxy is contributing $25 million, combining its contribution with capital backed by SharpLink's staked assets within the total announced commitments.
Under Lido's staking mechanism, the balance of the wrapped staked Ether token remains fixed, according to the protocol's explanation of how the token works and its availability to institutions through Anchorage Digital. Staking rewards are reflected in the token's conversion rate against the underlying staked Ether token, rather than in an increase in the balance itself. In its treasury accounting, SharpLink explained in its annual statement that unrealized losses and impairment charges reflect the accounting treatment of its holdings. It said these items "do not represent realized economic losses on Ether holdings," clarifying the nature of their impact on reported results. The company added that those losses and charges do not reduce the number of Ether units it holds, according to the statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
SharpLink shares closed the October 19, 2026, session at $7.460, down 1.45% on the day, according to historical price data from Investing.com. On the risks of staking through its protocol, Lido warns of risks associated with the smart contracts underpinning the process. Disclosed risks also include penalties that may be imposed on validators, according to Lido's staking help page. In its explanation of risks and mitigation measures, Lido states that "rewards are variable and not guaranteed," a condition governing the yield associated with staking through the protocol. It also explains that asset withdrawals are not immediate, making the timing of their recovery subject to the withdrawal mechanism, alongside variable rewards, smart contract risks and validator penalties.
