Genuit Group cut its forecast for underlying operating profit in 2026 to about £84 million as unusually warm weather and a weak market put pressure on its heating business. According to Alliance News, citing the company on 20 October, the new forecast was below the analyst consensus range compiled by the group. That range stands at £91 million to £96 million for the full year, putting the revised forecast below its lower end. The company had maintained its annual outlook when reporting first-half results before cutting it in the latest update. The revision comes amid delayed autumn stocking in the heating business, alongside pressure from expectations of higher interest rates and a weak repair, maintenance and improvement market.

The direct impact of warm weather was concentrated in the heating business, exacerbating weak volumes and delaying seasonal inventory purchases at Adey, according to Alliance News. The company said the warm weather had caused a "delay in the usual autumn stocking", the period associated with seasonal preparations for these businesses. At Nu-Heat, weak demand was linked to a subdued repair, maintenance and improvement market, alongside pressure from expectations of higher interest rates. The ventilation business showed resilience, contrasting with the difficulties facing heating operations in the group's latest update. Genuit had said in its half-year results disclosure that wet weather at the start of the year had affected the business, before the impact of unusually warm weather emerged later.

Group revenue for the 9 months ended September reached £464.5 million, according to Investing's coverage of the trading update. Genuit had reported revenue of £307.8 million in its half-year results disclosure published with Britain's Financial Conduct Authority. The company compared that figure with revenue of £297.8 million in the first half of 2025, recording a year-on-year increase. By contrast, underlying operating profit for the first half of 2026 fell 1.6% to £43.9 million. Higher first-half revenue thus coincided with a decline in underlying operating profit, although the group maintained its full-year outlook at the time.

The half-year disclosure also revealed operational pressures at Adey, which later faced delayed autumn stocking because of unusually warm weather. Those earlier pressures included a provision for slow-moving inventory, according to the company's first-half results. The same disclosure also cited a supplier quality failure among the operational difficulties facing the business during the period. On expansion, Genuit had forecast a contribution from its acquisitions of Monodraught and Davidson Holdings in its November 2025 update. It said at the time that the acquisitions were expected to generate revenue exceeding £55 million during 2026 while supporting profit margins.

Genuit shares opened down 13% in London on 20 October 2026 following the announcement of the profit forecast cut, according to Alliance News. On cash flow, cash conversion for the year to September exceeded 90%, according to Investing, citing the company's update. Group leverage stood at 1.5 times at the end of September, alongside the announcement of revenue for the 9 months and the revised annual profit forecast. The company had recorded underlying operating cash conversion of 71.3% in the first half, compared with 65.1% in the corresponding period of 2025. Genuit held its interim dividend at 4.2 pence per share, unchanged from the comparative period, according to the half-year results disclosure.

Genuit had identified business simplification in its half-year results as a source of expected annual savings under its plans for the period ahead. The company said these measures would generate savings exceeding £4 million annually from 2027, according to the disclosure published with Britain's Financial Conduct Authority. It also listed the "Warm Homes" programme, aimed at improving home efficiency, among the growth drivers it had identified for the group's businesses. This sits alongside its earlier expectations for acquisitions to contribute to revenue and margins during the year for which it has now cut its underlying operating profit forecast. Genuit plans to publish its full-year results in March 2027, according to Alliance News, citing the company.
