Genius Group revenue rises 81% to $4.1 million in third quarter
Key Facts
Genius Group reported an 81% year-on-year increase in operating revenue to $4.1 million in the third quarter of 2026, according to its earnings statement issued on October 20. The company said revenue also rose 39% from the previous quarter as profitability improved in its education businesses. Operations posted a net profit of $235,000 for the period, compared with a loss of $1.2 million in the third quarter of 2025. The profit figures form part of a voluntary, unaudited operating report covering operating units and excluding central treasury results and other items. The return to profit came as the company shifted toward higher-margin education programs after closing or restructuring loss-making divisions.
Quarterly gross profit reached $2.7 million, according to the company's statement, as returns from its mix of education programs improved. Gross profit rose 108% from the same period a year earlier, outpacing annual revenue growth. The gross profit margin reached 66.1% in the third quarter of the current year. The margin had stood at 57.3% in the corresponding period a year earlier, before the shift toward higher-margin programs. The company attributed the improvement to a change in its education program mix, the factor it cited in its statement to explain the higher margin.
Among the components of the quarterly results, operating units generated a combined operating profit of $390,000, and the company said all those units were profitable. Legacy costs from discontinued operations of $155,000 were deducted from their profits during the quarter. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization also totaled $261,000, according to the reported operating results. The report excludes central treasury gains and losses, alongside financing and investment items outside the operating units' results. Litigation items and central management fees are also excluded from the earnings reported under this voluntary operating scope.
For the nine months ended September 2026, cumulative revenue from operations totaled $10.3 million, according to the company. Cumulative net profit from operations reached $6.7 million over the same period, within the scope of the operating report it used to disclose the units' performance. At the group level, however, the company had reported a total net loss of $4.0 million in its first-half results. The loss in the corresponding half of 2025 was about $19 million, according to the first-half earnings statement. Describing its restructuring, the company said: "We closed or restructured loss-making divisions."
On liquidity, the company held $1.9 million in cash and cash equivalents at the end of June 2026, according to its first-half results. Genius Group subsequently announced the resumption of bitcoin purchases for its treasury in early October, before releasing its quarterly results. The company acquired 10 bitcoin from October 2 to 5, 2026. The purchases cost about $854,000, according to the company's statement announcing the resumption of buying. It said it planned to fund the treasury through operating cash flow, alongside perpetual preferred securities and an at-the-market share sale program.
Setting out its position on borrowing, the company said it currently had no plans to finance treasury purchases with debt. It added that it did not intend to pledge its bitcoin or artificial intelligence stock holdings to fund those purchases. In its statement announcing the resumption of buying, it said: "There are no plans to finance purchases with debt." On upcoming events, the company announced plans to hold the "Genius Future" summit at the "Genius City" site in Nuanu, Bali. The summit is scheduled for November 5 and 6, 2026, according to its official announcement.
