CoreWeave shares fell 5.0% to $58.06 before the market opened on October 20, 2026, hitting a 52-week low, according to Investing.com. The decline came amid concerns over financing the company's expansion in artificial intelligence infrastructure, which Reuters covered in its reporting on the selloff in its bonds. The agency cited large funding needs, leverage and reliance on external financing among the risks worrying investors. The risks it discussed included the possibility that graphics processing units purchased could become obsolete before new data centers open. Selling pressure persisted despite Goldman Sachs upgrading the stock to buy in the previous session, according to Investing.com.

In debt markets, Reuters said in its October 16 report that prices of CoreWeave bonds issued in June had fallen, pushing their yield from 9.675% at issuance to 15% during that week. Volatility extended to the shares, which reversed direction sharply during the October 15 session. The stock fell as much as 8.3% during the session, reaching its lowest level since May 2025. It then turned higher to trade up 5% when Reuters updated its report, reversing losses recorded earlier in trading. Meanwhile, trading in put options on the company reached a record on Wednesday, according to a Susquehanna derivatives strategist cited by the agency.

The financing concerns coincided with revenue growth and widening losses in the second quarter of 2026, according to the company's reported financial results. Quarterly revenue reached $2,575 million, compared with $1,212 million in the corresponding period of 2025. The net loss, meanwhile, widened to $626 million from $290 million a year earlier. Net interest expense rose to $640 million during the quarter, compared with $267 million in the corresponding period. Interest expense alone thus exceeded the quarterly net loss, while the company recorded an increase in revenue compared with the same period a year earlier.

On demand, CoreWeave said its contracted revenue backlog stood at about $104 billion at the end of June 2026. Recognition of this revenue is tied to meeting delivery requirements and service availability, under the terms the company outlined in its earnings announcement. Its customer base includes Microsoft and OpenAI, according to Reuters. Against the concerns dominating trading in the shares and bonds, Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang offered a positive assessment of the company's financial position. Huang said "CoreWeave's financial strength is improving every day," according to Reuters' October 15 coverage.

CoreWeave had announced on August 10 the closing of a $2.6 billion delayed-draw term loan facility to finance the expansion of its platform and fulfill customer commitments. The facility was priced at the Secured Overnight Financing Rate plus a margin of 5.50 percentage points, according to the company's announcement. The financing has a term of about 5 years. That compares with an average term of 3 years for the underlying customer contracts supporting the facility, according to the company. Under these terms, the loan's maturity extends beyond the average duration of the contracts, as CoreWeave continues to finance its platform expansion to meet its commitments to customers.

The announced financing instruments span issues with different maturities and terms, including bonds due October 1, 2031, according to CoreWeave's filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Those bonds carry a fixed annual coupon of 9.750%, according to the issuance terms. In September, the company announced the pricing of a convertible bond offering with a principal amount of $3.7 billion. The issue carries an annual coupon of 2.875% and matures in 2033, according to the company's pricing announcement. Cash interest payments on the September convertible bonds begin on April 1, 2027, under the schedule set out in the offering terms.
