3Tesla will report third-quarter results after the market closes on 21 October 2026.
4The proposed format for the talks does not include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed meeting U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping next month to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine on terms favorable to Moscow, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the discussions. Investing, citing the newspaper and a former Russian intelligence source, said Putin raised the idea during a telephone call with Trump on 9 October. The newspaper described the aim of the initiative as "negotiating an end to the conflict in Moscow's favor." But Trump had not agreed to hold the summit, according to a senior U.S. official cited in the report. The Russian initiative therefore remains a proposal for a meeting of the leaders, rather than an agreed meeting.

The proposed format for the talks does not include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to the Wall Street Journal. Putin is thus proposing negotiations to end the war in Ukraine through a meeting with the U.S. and Chinese presidents, without the Ukrainian president taking part in the proposed format. The newspaper said the initiative seeks to capitalize on improving relations between Trump and Putin. It added that this rapprochement had alarmed Ukraine and its allies in Washington and Europe. The proposed talks, according to the newspaper's account, come against the backdrop of improving relations between the U.S. and Russian presidents, as Moscow seeks a settlement on terms favorable to it.

In corporate news, Tesla announced deliveries of 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, compared with a consensus forecast of 461,974 vehicles compiled by the company from analysts before the figures were released. Production totaled 464,391 vehicles during the same period, according to its production and deliveries statement. Deliveries exceeded production during the quarter. Deliveries also surpassed the analyst consensus estimate published by Tesla's investor relations department for the same period. The operating figures precede the company's financial results, which it said are also determined by average selling prices, cost of sales and exchange-rate movements.

The annual comparison shows Tesla's third-quarter deliveries were below their level in the same period of 2025, when they totaled 497,099 vehicles, according to the company's statement for that quarter. Production, by contrast, rose from 447,450 vehicles a year earlier. Compared with the previous quarter, deliveries increased from the 480,126 vehicles the company reported in the second quarter of 2026. Production also rose from 451,758 vehicles in the second quarter, according to Tesla's statement for that period. The latest figures thus combined annual and quarterly production growth with an increase in deliveries from the previous quarter, while deliveries remained below their level a year earlier.

Tesla said deliveries alone are insufficient to determine the company's financial performance, in its explanation of the factors affecting its results. It identified average selling prices among these factors, alongside the number of vehicles it delivers to customers. It also listed cost of sales among the elements affecting financial results. It added exchange-rate movements to the factors influencing those results, according to the investor relations statement. The company thus places production and delivery figures within a broader set of performance drivers, including selling prices, costs and exchange rates, ahead of its forthcoming third-quarter financial disclosure.

Tesla is scheduled to report third-quarter results after the market closes on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, according to the date set by the company in its statement. On the international agenda for the following month, the Chinese city of Shenzhen will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders' meeting on 18 and 19 November 2026, according to a Chinese government announcement. The program of events accompanying the leaders' meeting includes a CEO summit. It also includes a joint ministerial meeting of foreign and trade ministers, according to the government announcement. The Shenzhen meeting falls in the month the Wall Street Journal identified for the Russian initiative, while Trump has yet to agree to the summit proposed by Putin, according to the U.S. official cited in the report.
