Energy Vault Acquires U.S. Battery Project Portfolio Exceeding 2.3 GW
Key Facts
Energy Vault acquired a U.S. battery-energy-storage development portfolio from Goshe Energy Storage, adding more than 2.3 GW across 15 projects to its build-own-operate platform. The announced capacity represents a development pipeline, not a fully operating asset base.
The portfolio is anchored by two ready-to-build projects of 150 MW and 200 MW, totaling 350 MW. Energy Vault expects both to begin commercial operations in the first quarter of 2028 and generate about $30 million of combined annual run-rate EBITDA once operational; these are forecasts, not guaranteed results.
The portfolio also has a committed credit facility of up to $40 million from S2G Investments to support development, construction and operations. Available financing can reduce the risk of moving into construction, but permits, final funding and execution remain necessary before commercial revenue begins.
NRGV closed on September 21, 2026 at $4.70, within a daily range of $4.43 to $4.78, before the transaction was announced on September 22. The acquisition's financial relevance comes from potential cash flow after projects enter service, not from the 2.3 GW figure alone; the company cautioned that development projects may not become operational or produce the expected revenue.
