Circle Sets September 16, 2026, Arc Launch and Names BlackRock, Visa as Founding Validators
Key Facts
Circle said Arc's public mainnet will launch on September 16, 2026. The network was still operating privately when the story was published, so the event was scheduled rather than completed.
Arc's private mainnet has more than 100 ecosystem and institutional builders, according to the company. That differs from claiming that more than 100 institutional developers will join exclusively when the public network starts.
Alongside Circle, the company named 11 institutions to the founding validator cohort: BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, Global Payments, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, SBI Group, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Corporation and Visa.
Circle says Arc will operate with a permissioned validator set while its core architecture is designed to support open, permissionless innovation. Founding-validator status describes an operating role in securing the network and does not by itself amount to a broad investment endorsement.
Some announced relationships extend beyond validator operations. Circle expects BlackRock's BUIDL fund to deploy on Arc and is collaborating with DTCC to enable tokenization of DTC-custodied assets on the network beginning in the second half of 2027. Both remain future developments rather than completed services.
Circle says the launch suite will include tools for applications and smart contracts and capabilities for issuing and managing tokenized real-world assets, with applications and services expected across lending, trading, payments and wallets. The company cautions that Arc's features may be changed, delayed or cancelled, making the actual start of the network and announced services on September 16, 2026, the next test of execution.
