Stryker (SYK) shares fell as much as 7.7% on the morning of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after company executives discussed continuing problems in the peripheral vascular and joint-replacement businesses.

The comments came at the Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference, where Chief Financial Officer Preston Wells and Vice President of Investor Relations Nick Mead participated. Stryker had officially confirmed that both executives would take part in a conference fireside chat.

Wells said a manufacturing problem in peripheral vascular is preventing the company from maintaining full customer inventory and limiting its ability to pursue new business. Stryker had expected to resolve the issue in Q3, but now anticipates that it will extend slightly into Q4.

In joint replacement, the summer recovery did not continue at the pace management expected after a strong June. Wells attributed the shortfall to more typical seasonality and said the company anticipated better performance in September.

Stryker's Q2 2026 results show that U.S. vascular sales declined 6.7% year over year, while total global vascular sales fell 0.7%. Those figures provide context for investors' sensitivity to persistent supply constraints, but do not by themselves explain the September 8 share move.

In its July results, Stryker forecast 2026 organic sales growth of 8.3% to 9.3% and adjusted diluted earnings of $14.95 to $15.10 a share. That guidance predates the September 8 comments, leaving investors to assess whether the manufacturing constraints and softer joint-replacement performance threaten either range.
