Spanish energy group Repsol has reached an agreement to sell a 49% stake in its renewable energy portfolio, known as the Minerva project, to the UAE-based Masdar. The project is valued at approximately $994 million (850 million euros) and boasts a total capacity of 706 MW. This portfolio consists of 13 wind farms and six photovoltaic plants, representing a significant strategic partnership in the clean energy sector. The move aligns with Repsol's energy transition goals while providing Masdar with substantial growth opportunities in the European market. The deal underscores the growing confidence in Spanish renewable assets as a primary destination for Gulf-based capital. This transaction stands as one of the most prominent M&A activities in the green energy sector this year.
