Russia has announced a halt to Kazakh crude oil deliveries to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline effective May 1, jeopardizing approximately 43,000 barrels per day. This disruption follows a significant 44% surge in Kazakh shipments to Germany via Druzhba in 2025, reaching 2.146 million metric tons, with 730,000 tons already delivered in the first quarter of the current year. In response, Berlin is negotiating with Poland to secure alternative logistics through the port of Gdansk to supply the critical PCK Schwedt refinery. Polish authorities have confirmed their technical readiness to accommodate these additional volumes through their port infrastructure. While the volumes are relatively small, the suspension forces a complex logistical shift for Germany's refining sector amid ongoing friction with Moscow. The move highlights the growing importance of Polish cooperation in maintaining German energy security.
