Boehringer Ingelheim and Zai Lab Partner on Novel Oncology Combination Therapy

Key Facts

1Boehringer Ingelheim and Zai Lab announced a clinical collaboration to evaluate a combination therapy targeting DLL3.
2The Phase Ib/II study will focus on small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and other neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs).
3The collaboration combines Boehringer’s obrixtamig with Zai Lab’s zocilurtatug pelitecan (ZL-1310).

Boehringer Ingelheim and Zai Lab have expanded their clinical collaboration to evaluate a novel combination therapy targeting the DLL3 protein. Zai Lab recently announced new clinical data demonstrating that zocilurtatug pelitecan (formerly ZL-1310) induces rapid and robust intracranial responses in SCLC patients with brain metastases. The drug also showed promising activity in other neuroendocrine carcinomas as measured by independent assessment using mRANO-BM criteria. The ongoing Phase Ib/II study investigates the synergy between this ADC candidate and Boehringer’s obrixtamig. This research specifically addresses significant unmet medical needs in aggressive oncology and extensive-stage cancers. For Zai Lab, these concrete Phase I results validate its ADC platform's efficacy in treating complex metastatic conditions. The partnership underscores the increasing importance of integrated therapeutic approaches in modern oncology.
