The Coca-Cola Company (KO) has secured a landmark agreement with Marriott International (MAR) to become its exclusive global beverage provider, ending a 34-year partnership with PepsiCo (PEP). This strategic shift concludes a relationship with PepsiCo that dates back to 1992 and will impact approximately 9,700 Marriott properties across 143 countries. Marriott cited internal data showing that over 70% of its Marriott Bonvoy loyalty members prefer Coca-Cola products as a primary driver for the change. The transition is also intended to address long-standing guest dissatisfaction regarding the lack of Coca-Cola availability at Marriott locations. Coca-Cola products will now be featured in catering services, guest room minibars, and fountain pour stations worldwide. Analysts view this as a major market share victory for Coca-Cola, likely to drive long-term volume growth while marking a significant loss for PepsiCo.
