SBI VC Trade and Ripple Partner to Launch RLUSD Stablecoin in Japan
Key Facts
SBI VC Trade has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ripple to distribute the RLUSD stablecoin in Japan, as new blockchain activity highlights active exchange-level integration. Recent data shows that 150 million new RLUSD tokens were minted and traced to Gemini Exchange, following Gemini's redemption of 128 million tokens on the XRP Ledger. Alongside these operational moves, Ripple launched its 'Digital Asset Accounts' and 'Unified Treasury' features, supported by its planned acquisition of GTreasury. The integrated platform allows CFOs to manage XRP, RLUSD, and fiat currencies within a single dashboard, streamlining institutional treasury workflows. This follows CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s disclosure that Ripple Treasury processed $13 trillion in payments over the past year. The partnership leverages SBI’s network to facilitate domestic payments while providing enhanced scalability for global liquidity management.
