Lynas Rare Earths has finalized a strategic long-term supply agreement with the Japanese consortium JARE, comprising JOGMEC and Sojitz. Under the terms of the deal, JARE has committed to purchasing 5,000 tonnes of Neodymium-Praseodymium (NdPr) annually from Lynas to bolster Japan's supply chain security. This agreement is specifically designed to reduce Japan's reliance on Chinese rare earth exports and insulate its high-tech industries from pricing volatility. For Lynas, the partnership provides a guaranteed long-term off-take, significantly strengthening its financial outlook and market position. This move highlights the broader global trend of diversifying critical mineral sources to mitigate geopolitical supply risks. The deal underscores the strategic importance of non-Chinese supply chains in the current global economic landscape.
