Europe is projected to reach a new milestone in liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports, with forecasts hitting a record 14.20 million tons in February 2026. According to data from Kpler, this represents a significant 22% increase compared to the same period last year. The surge is primarily driven by the rapid depletion of gas inventories across the continent during the peak winter season. The United States remains the dominant supplier, accounting for 57% of the total volume, or approximately 8.05 million tons. This record-breaking demand highlights Europe's ongoing reliance on global LNG markets to maintain energy security. Market analysts expect this trend to provide bullish support for natural gas benchmarks, including Dutch TTF and Henry Hub, while benefiting major energy exporters.
