Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesian government to extend operating rights for the Grasberg minerals district. The agreement stipulates that PT Freeport Indonesia’s special mining business license (IUPK) will be amended to facilitate this life-of-resource extension. This strategic move aims to provide long-term operational certainty for one of the world's most significant copper and gold production sites. By securing these rights, FCX effectively reduces regulatory and geopolitical risks associated with its Indonesian operations.
