Northrop Grumman and Poland Partner to Produce 180,000 Artillery Shells Annually

Northrop Grumman and the Polish group Niewiadow-PGM have signed a framework agreement to establish a major artillery shell production hub in Poland. The partnership aims to manufacture over 180,000 units of 155-mm ammunition annually to address critical global shortages. Production is slated to commence in 2026, utilizing advanced Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI) technology to ensure cost-efficiency and faster output. The output will primarily target the U.S., Polish, and European defense markets, with potential supplies earmarked for Ukraine's defense needs. This strategic move strengthens Northrop Grumman’s presence in the European defense sector while significantly boosting Poland's domestic industrial capacity.
