A composite indicator based on monthly surveys of over 500 private and state-owned manufacturing firms in China. It focuses more on small and medium-sized enterprises compared to the official government PMI. A reading above 50 indicates expansion in the sector, while a reading below 50 indicates contraction.
Compiled by S&P Global based on responses to questionnaires sent to purchasing managers. The index is a weighted average of five sub-indices: New Orders, Output, Employment, Suppliers' Delivery Times, and Stocks of Purchases.
