The GlobalDairyTrade (GDT) Price Index measures the weighted average price of dairy products sold at auction. It is a leading indicator for New Zealand's export earnings and the overall health of its agricultural sector. Because New Zealand is the world's largest dairy exporter, fluctuations in this index have a significant impact on the New Zealand Dollar (NZD).
The index is calculated using a weighted average of price changes in dairy product auctions conducted twice a month by GlobalDairyTrade.
