The Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle is a national holiday in North Macedonia observed on October 23rd. It commemorates the founding of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) in Thessaloniki in 1893. The organization played a pivotal role in the struggle for Macedonian independence and statehood. The day is marked by official ceremonies, cultural events, and a general closure of public and private institutions.
This is a fixed-date national holiday established by the Law on Holidays of the Republic of Macedonia. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is typically observed as a non-working day.
