The BLOM Lebanon PMI is a composite index designed to provide a single-figure snapshot of operating conditions in the Lebanese private sector. It is based on data compiled from monthly replies to questionnaires sent to purchasing executives in around 400 private sector companies. The index tracks variables such as output, new orders, employment, and prices. It serves as a vital barometer for an economy facing significant structural challenges.
The index is a weighted average of five individual indices: New Orders (30%), Output (25%), Employment (20%), Suppliers’ Delivery Times (15%), and Stocks of Purchases (10%).
