The Day of Victory over the Genocidal Regime is a significant public holiday in Cambodia observed annually on January 7th. It commemorates the end of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, which was responsible for the deaths of millions of Cambodians. On this day, government offices, schools, and financial institutions across the country are closed. It serves as a day of remembrance and reflection on the country's history and its path toward peace and development.
This is a fixed-date public holiday determined by the Cambodian government's official calendar. It is not a calculated economic indicator but a non-trading day for the local financial markets.
