EU GDP YoY measures year on year growth of real output for the European Union. It compares output in one quarter with the same quarter one year earlier, using inflation-adjusted chain-linked volumes. It covers production by resident units in 27 EU states, compiled by Eurostat under European accounting rules from member-state accounts.
Growth is computed on seasonally and calendar adjusted volumes under series CLV_PCH_SM. Positive change means real activity expanded from the same quarter previous year, while negative change means it contracted. It covers the EU aggregate only, not the euro area. It does not measure welfare, income distribution, nominal growth or employment, and it uses no sampling frame because accounts combine many sources.
