The ANZ Internet Job Ads measures the month-over-month change in the number of job advertisements posted on major internet sites. It is considered a leading indicator of the Australian labor market, as changes in advertising levels typically precede shifts in actual employment figures. A rising trend suggests increasing labor demand and business confidence, which can signal future economic growth. Conversely, a decline may indicate a cooling economy and potential rise in unemployment.
The data is compiled by ANZ Research by aggregating job advertisement counts from leading online employment portals. The figures are seasonally adjusted to account for monthly variations in hiring patterns.
