The publisher lists no fixed components, weights, or drivers, so each speech selects its own themes.
- Policy framework: Monetary Policy Board objectives for price stability and full employment.
- Inflation assessment: whether price rises reflect supply shocks or homegrown demand, including trimmed mean inflation.
- Financial stability: resilience considerations for the financial system.
- Framework changes: operational and process lessons from the Review of the RBA.
A Monetary Policy Fit for the Future shows how the item works. Bullock gave it at the Australian Business Economists Annual Dinner in Sydney on 22 November 2023. It explained a 25 basis point rise at the November meeting after steady months, since activity and inflation proved more resilient than expected.
It framed the remaining challenge as homegrown and demand driven, after inflation fell from 8% to 5.5% in three quarters. It cited trimmed mean inflation above target, about two-thirds of items above 3%, strong services prices, and high labour use.
Services examples included hairdressers and dentists, dining out, and sporting and recreational activities. It expected two more years for a similar fall below 3%, by aligning demand with supply while keeping employment growing. It left the decision to the minutes, released the day before, so the speech carries no numeric value of its own.
