The Day after Vesak Full Moon Poya Day is an additional public holiday in Sri Lanka that follows the primary Vesak festival. Vesak is the most significant day for Buddhists, celebrating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Lord Buddha. This second day allows for continued religious observances, charity work, and cultural festivities. All financial institutions, including the Colombo Stock Exchange, remain closed during this period.
This holiday is based on the Buddhist lunar calendar and occurs on the day following the full moon in the month of May (Vesak).
